2019 Barbaresco DOCG Marcarini, Piedmont, Italy

Somewhat floral-perfumed, dried-vegetable, earthy, slightly undergrowthy and tomatoy scent with notes of mixed berries and a hint of pepper and mushrooms. Tart fruit with dried-vegetable to tobacco and again mushroomy tones, some barrel wood and nutty aromas, present, relatively fine, still a touch drying tannin, some acid bite, persistent, with power but also cooling elements, a hint of kola nut in the background, peppery and juniper tones, very good if slightly drying finish.
