Editor note: First signs of maturity on the nose, tart, light dried vegetal notes and a hint of tobacco, predominantly red berries, leathery traces, touch of dried flowers and leaves. Tart, fairly firm fruit on the palate, pepperyspice and light smoky oak, some cardamom and juniper, firm, youthful tannins, good substance and persistence, full body, hint of ashes, some licorice, light dried floral notes on a very good, tart, juicy, spicy finish.
Best to drink: 2020-2026+

DOCG area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The vineyards extend over 500 hectares, divided into about the same number of plots. The zone includes the municipalities of Barbaresco (with more than 50%), Neive and Treiso, and Alba with the San Rocco Seno d'Elvio sub-area in the province of Cuneo.
