2022 Viognier "Zafrán", Pfalz, Germany

Nutty and woody-spicy, also clearly vegetal, somewhat reminiscent of root vegetables, parsley and pulses with restrained yellow-fruity aromas, smoke, mushrooms and hints of bacon. Firm, tart, juicy fruit with buttery melting, nutty flavours and clear yellow spice, very fine acidity and lots of crumbly tannin, persistent on the palate, medium strength, certain warmth, vegetal flavours, a little tobacco, hints of caramel, remains bone dry, gains tension with air, very good, somewhat buttery, at the same time mealy-grippy finish.
