2019 Pinot Noir Réserve, Pfalz, Germany

Slightly dried tomato and clove-spicy aroma of black and red berries with malty notes, a little wood and wilted flowers. Partly preserved, slightly warm fruit, crumbly-sandy tannin, dark spicy and slightly bready hints, fine-sandy, a hint of drying tannin, some persistence and power, a hint of tar in the background, plus spicy vegetables and hazelnuts, then also salt, good to very good, slightly melting finish with ethereal notes and a little bitterish wood tones as well as with air also some acidity. Clearly superior to the first sample.

Editor note: Clear, predominantly black berry nose with coffee notes, animal traces, as well as nutty and dried planty aromas and slightly smoky wood. Tart, again rather dark fruit, fine sandy tannin, smoky and woody notes, a little earthy in the background, dried root vegetables, mushroomy flavours, some persistence, good to very good, tart finish with coffee grounds notes and walnut.
