2018 Ungstein Weilberg Riesling, Pfalz, Germany

Quite deep and firm, cool, somewhat vegetal to herbal and slightly mushroomy scent of ripe yellow fruits with delicate floral hints, a hint of pepper, tobacco and light mineral nuances. Ripe, taut fruit with delicately creamy, a hint of mixed berries and some olive oil, smoky and tobacco hints, very fine, lively acidity, lots of grip of ripe tannins, quite dense and persistent on the palate, long pepper, marzipan and cardamom in the background, clearly salty and chalky minerality, has freshness, very good, slightly peppery finish with light woody flavours.
