Appellation in the two districts of Korinthia and Argolida in the east of the Greek peninsula Peloponnese southwest of the port city of Corinth. Wine was already being grown here in ancient times, at least 2,500 years ago. The vineyards cover around 2,100 hectares of vines in 16 municipalities and are situated at an altitude of between 250 and 800 metres above sea level. The area is divided into numerous sub-areas, which also have different soils due to the great difference in altitude. The best locations are those between 450 and 650 metres with red, deep soil. Based on the altitude, the area is unofficially divided into three sub-areas.
