The winery "Keltis vinogradništvo vinarstvo" is located in the municipality of Bizeljsko (part of Brežice) in the Posavje region of southern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. Its origins date back to 1776, when 17 huge oak trees were used to build a wine cellar. Today it is one of the oldest and largest in the region. After the Second World War (1939-1945), it was rebuilt by Ivan and Elizabeta Kelhar. Towards the end of the 1980s, the winery was taken over by son Marijan Kelhar and run by his wife Ana and their children Luka and Miha. The vineyards cover five hectares of vines in the Bizeljsko area. These are mostly south to south-west facing and benefit from westerly winds from the nearby Orlica hills, which protect against fungal diseases. The white wine varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Traminer, Muscat and Riesling, as well as the red wine varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on soils of marl, sandstone with flint, clay and limestone. Organic viticulture is practised.

Only healthy and physiologically ripe grapes are processed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts. The red wines undergo a long maceration with skin contact in order to develop aromas. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks or 18 to 36 months in large wooden barrels or in barriques. Sulphurisation is only carried out to an absolutely necessary extent. The premium wines include the mineral white wine cuvée "Cuvée Extreme" from the five white varieties (macerated for two months, aged for 36 months in barrique) and the bottle-fermented sparkling wine "Mario" (50% each Chardonnay and Pinot Gris). A sparkling wine called "Mario Brut" is also produced. Orange Wines are a speciality of the house.
