2013 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot Riserva Brenntal, Alto Adige, Italy

Earthy and dried vegetal notes on the nose, hint of bacon, predominantly black berries, nutty oak, touch of soup greens, root vegetables and tobacco. Ripe, dark, partly preserved fruit on the palate, prominent dark, toasted, spicy oak, cloves and chocolate, concentrated and persistent, full-bodied, noticeable warm alcohol, hint of tobacco, dried herbs in the background, fairly prominent, still youthful tannins, broad-shouldered style, good grip on a very good juicy, spicy finish.
