2022 Castell Kugelspiel Silvaner VDP.Erste Lage trocken 'Monopol', Franconia/Franken, Germany

Clearly herbaceous-vegetal nose with restrained, bright yellow-fruity aromas, celery, dill, and floral nuances. Clear, finely juicy, bright fruit, reminiscent of broccoli and celery with vegetal aromas, fine, quite lively acidity, delicate grip, good sustainability, citrus nuances on the palate, a hint of dill, with chalky and salty undertones in the background, a slightly sweet melt, very good finish. It seems to have left its somewhat broad and exotic phase behind, but must yield to the wonderful Hohnart from the same year.

Editor note: Very light nutty and buttery nose with almost slightly warm yellow fruity and vegetal aromas, herbaceous nuances and a hint of lemon. Clear, quite juicy, not completely dry yellow fruit with nutty and buttery notes, a little spring onion and a hint of candied orange peel and passion fruit, very fine acidity, delicate grip, good substance and persistence, a little fennel and aniseed in the background, very good, slightly sweetish finish, again with an exotic touch. Becomes noticeably broader and more aromatic with maturity.

Editor note: Firm, cool and tart, clearly herbal aroma with restrained, light pome fruit notes, celery, a little herbs, pistachios and mineral hints. Firmly woven, tart, reserved, yet quite dense fruit, very fine, relatively lively acidity and some grip, fresh herbal aromas reminiscent of celery, persistent on the palate, salty-chalky minerality, some depth, still young, very good, fresh, fine-juicy finish with traction.
