2019 Chateauneuf-du-Pape AOC "Les Roussannes de Charles", Rhône, France

Quite firm, deep, slightly phenolic, somewhat vegetal and woody aroma of pome fruit with tobacco aromas, partly dried herbs, floral tones, a little yellow spice, hints of capers and minerality. Quite dense, ripe, juicy fruit with yellow spice and nutty, smoky and also slightly toasty wood flavours, fine acidity and grip of crumbly tannin, clear minerality in the background, peppery nuances, good depth, plenty of power, noticeable, but integrated alcohol, ethereal notes, juniper, quite complex, incredible finesse and freshness for a wine of this weight class, very good, juicy and spicy, also bacon-woody finish with lots of cooling minerality and at the same time some alcohol warmth. Needs air.
