2020 Johannisberg Hölle Pinot Noir, Rheingau, Germany

Relatively firm, slightly smoky aroma of partly cooked, predominantly dark berries, a little cherry, hints of mushrooms, cigar tobacco and barrel wood notes. Tart dark fruit with toasty aromas, smoky bitters and a little juniper, fine sandy tannin, some persistence, some wax in the background, noticeable alcohol, bitter chocolate notes, a little citrus zest and sour cherry, very good finish with dark fruit and relatively much still bitter wood.
