2018 Lorch Schlossberg Pinot Noir, Rheingau, Germany

Slightly open, alcoholic nose of predominantly dark berries and preserved cherries with some blood orange, tobacco wood notes and earthy and ashy tones. Boiled down fruit and bitterish wood, smoky and toasty tones, also damp undergrowth, a lot of power and some persistence, again a bit open on the palate, some coffee and dark chocolate, plenty of alcohol, a hint of salt, good, if again alcohol heavy and a bit bitterish finish.
