2013 Gattinara DOCG, Piedmont, Italy

Light nutty notes on the nose, dried flowers, hint of tobacco, ripe, partly preserved, predominantly red berries, some undergrowth, earthy traces. Ripe, fairly juicy fruit on the palate, moderate nutty oak, dried floral traces, lively, fairly well integrated tannins, light acid bite, good substance and persistence, hint of cocoa in the background, peppery spice and herbaceous traces, fairly prominent mineral notes, some depth, very good, firm, juicy, spicy finish.
