The winery is located in the municipality of Bolgheri in the Italian region of Tuscany. It was founded in 1998 by the German entrepreneur family Knauf. The director is Tommaso Alessandri, the oenologist is the Frenchman Stéphane Derenoncourt and Francesco Gagliardi, the cellar master is Marco Giuntoli. The vineyards cover 16.5 hectares of vineyards in 15 locations and 38 plots. They are planted with the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, as well as the white wine variety Vermentino. They are planted very densely in the "Médocain method" (common in the Médoc) at low altitude with 9,500 vines per hectare (1.30 m x 0.85 m). The competition between the vines is intended to produce a low yield that enhances quality. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are harvested with careful, selective manual harvesting. They are then subjected to a second selection on the sorting table and a third selection by means of a .
In the three-storey cellar, up to ten metres deep, the grapes are gently processed using gravity to preserve their organoleptic characteristics. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wines are aged in French . The product range includes DOC wines Bolgheri like Adèo Rosso (Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 40%) and Arnione Rosso Superiore (Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Merlot 20%, Cabernet Franc 20%, Petit Verdot 20%) as well as IGT wines like Arioso Toscana Bianco. About 110,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 60% of which are exported. The winery is a member of WINE PATHS (Travel the World Wine & Spirits).
