2022 Dernau Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Deep, complex and fine, relatively cool, somewhat peppery, tobacco, herbaceous and hint of animal on the nose, mixed berries with a hint of Amarena cherries, cassis and cubeb pepper. Clear, dense and juicy fruit with slightly nutty and spicy wood flavours, a hint of vanilla as well as hints of thyme and sage, firm and at the same time fine, crumbly tannin, good substance and persistence, salty and almost stony minerality, gains depth with air, tobacco nuances, some juniper, very good to long, juicy, dense, ethereal-spicy finish.
