2017 Ahrweiler Rosenthal Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Nose still slightly reductive, smoky and toasted notes, hint of bacon, light dried vegetal notes, red and black berries, hint of tobacco, some peppery spice. Firm, ripe, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, smoky, toasted oak, light herbaceous notes, floral traces, peppery spice, citrus notes in the background, touch of red bell peppers, firm tannins, light acid bite, some depth, still undeveloped, and still slightly chunky, firm bite on a very good, tart, slightly smoky and spicy finish with fresh juicy notes.
