2016 Dernau Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Tart nose, light earthy and delicate nutty and earthy notes, predominantly red berries with a whiff of cherries. Still slightly closed on the palate, more tart, elegant, juicy fruit, some oak, firm tannins still slightly astringent, light acid bite, good persistence, herbaceous and light spicy notes, hint of citrus zests in the background,fine sandy tannins provide some grip on a good to very good cool, juicy, spicy finish.
