2020 Monferrato DOC Freisa, Piedmont, Italy

Firm, somewhat smoky and tobacco-like aroma of black and red berries with distinct leathery flavours, certain barrel tones, some pepper and ethereal spice. Firm, fairly juicy, ripe fruit with tobacco and slightly smoky notes, distinct ethereal spice and nutty barrel tones, a hint of liquorice on the palate, present, mellow tannins and some acid bite, persistent, restrained power, a little dried flowers and herbs in the background, salty minerality, certain depth, very good, firm, juicy and spicy finish.
