2005 Barbaresco DOCG Basarin, Piedmont, Italy

Editor note: Preserved and partly dried cherries on the nose, plums and red berries, hint of candied and floral notes. Jammy fruit on the palate, slightly sooty old oak, fairly prominent sandy and astringent tannins, elegant acidity, bitter cocoa in the background, not particularly deep, astringent on an attractive finish.
