2020 Mitterberg IGT "Braunsberg" (by Irmgard Windegger), Alto Adige, Italy

Slightly bacony and mushroomy nose of black berries with a hint of cherries, pepper and floral nuances as well as a little juniper and hibiscus in the background. Taut, finely juicy, polished fruit, some acidity and very fine, youthful tannin, good substance and persistence, restrained power, has an almost cool character despite the relatively high alcohol due to the emphatically ethereal notes, coffee tones in the background, salty minerality, some dark caramel, smoky hints, very good, then also warming finish with a little bitter chocolate and ashy tones.
