2015 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Palladium "Coldirus", Alto Adige, Italy

Firm, fairly tart nose, hint of tobacco, some dark, spicy oak, ripe black berries and cherries, hint of licorice. Ripe, clear, firm, very juicy dark fruit on the palate, surprisingly fresh and quite cool considering the high level of alcohol, spicy and light salty notes, very fine youthful tannins, touch of cloves, licorice and cola nuts, prominent salty mineral notes, still young, peppery traces, slightly sharp and spicy on a very good firm, juicy finish. Has developed very well in recent months, and has moved past the reductive stage.

Editor note: Nose still slightly cheesy, toasted notes and some chocolate, partly preserved dark berries and cherries, touch of hay and dried bell peppery. Fairly juicy youthful fruit on the palate, spicy oak, chocolate and coffee, fine sandy traces, some plums, waxy traces, good substance and persistence, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, full body, touch of mature, integrated, partly preserved pomaceous fruit, more chocolate and coffee on a good to very good finish.
