2013 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Maturum, Alto Adige, Italy

Youthful nose, light cedary, earthy and animal notes, black berries, hint of tobacco and some dried herbs, light spicy notes. Ripe, dark, slightly jammy fruit on the palate, prominent sooty, toasted oak, both sweetish and bitter, fine sandy, slightly astringent tannins, noticeable warm alcohol, dried vegetal and herbaceous notes, cocoa and coffee, becomes more juicy and polished with aeration, also appears cooler, salty mineral notes, herbaceous notes and a hint of bacon, light sooty notes on a very good firm, tart, juicy finish.
