2019 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva "Burgum Novum", Alto Adige, Italy

Firm, somewhat ashy and slightly bacony nose, ripe black berries with cherry notes, some dried herbs, tomato paste and smoky oak flavours. Ripe, tart, dark fruit that seems almost cool at first, smoky and slightly bacony notes again, dried herbs, good substance and persistence, relatively present, fine sandy tannins, salty, roasted notes in the background, a hint of pepper and some ice candy, a certain acid bite, very good, tart finish with chocolate and slightly ashy notes.
