Editor note: Black berries and a few cherries on the nose, herbaceous traces. Partly preserved, partly fresh, sweetish fruit on the palate, light toasted notes, herbaceous traces, fine sandy tannins, fairly full-bodied and fairly persistent, straightforward style, not particularly deep, but metiulously made, good, sweetish finish.
Best to drink: To 2022+

The production area is located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany and is named after the river of the same name. There is a lot of preserved evidence of the Romans, who already cultivated wine here. The vineyards cover 4,237 hectares of vines along the river from Hunsrück to the mouth of the Rhine near Bingen. Near Bingen, the Benedictine abbess Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) founded the Rupertsberg monastery.
