The winery is located in the community of Burrweiler (area Südliche Weinstraße) in the German wine-growing region Pfalz in the middle of the nature reserve "Haardtrand - Pfälzer Wald" on a foothill of the "Teufelsberg". It was originally founded as a "hermitage" to supply the arriving pilgrims to the nearby and name-giving St. Anna's Chapel, a well-known pilgrimage site. At 355 metres above sea level, it is the highest vineyard in the Palatinate. The restaurant "St. Annagut" is attached. The business was taken over by the Lergenmüller family (Hainfeld municipality) in 1998. After studying viticulture in Geisenheim and oenological internships in France and South Africa, it is run by Victoria Lergenmüller. She is currently studying in Bordeaux with a planned Master MBA in wine and spirits

The vineyards comprise 7.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations of Schäwer and in the sole possession of St. Annaberg (Burrweiler), Hölle (Gleisweiler), and Kalmit (Ilbesheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Silvaner, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, as well as the red wine varieties Spätburgunder and St. Laurent. The vineyards are currently undergoing conversion to biological (organic) viticulture. The hand-picked grapes are spontaneously fermented and aged in the cellar on St. Annaberg. They are stored on the for a long time to reach their full potential. The focus of the wines is clearly on the development of the Rieslings. The product range includes various single vineyard wines such as Terrassenlage (Burrweiler St. Annaberg) and Ilbesheimer Kalmit, as well as Edition Johanniskreuz (Riesling cuvée from all sites).
