The winery is located in the municipality of Burrweiler (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz, in the middle of the "Haardtrand - Pfälzer Wald" nature reserve on a foothill of the "Teufelsberg". It was originally founded as a "hermitage" to supply pilgrims travelling to the nearby and namesake St. Anna's Chapel, a well-known pilgrimage site. At 355 metres above sea level, it is the highest winery in the Palatinate. The restaurant "St. Annagut" is attached. The winery was taken over by the Lergenmüller family (municipality of Hainfeld) in 1998. After studying wine economics in Geisenheim and oenological internships in France and South Africa, it is run by Victoria Lergenmüller. She is currently studying in Bordeaux with a planned Master MBA in wine and spirits

The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Schäwer and in the sole ownership St. Annaberg (Burrweiler), Hölle (Gleisweiler), as well as Kalmit (Ilbesheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Silvaner, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, and with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder and St. Laurent. The vineyards are currently being converted to organic viticulture. The hand-picked grapes are spontaneously fermented and matured in the cellar at St. Annaberg. They are stored for a long time on the fine lees in order to exploit their full potential. The focus of the wines is clearly on the maturation of the Rieslings. The product range includes various single-vineyard wines such as Terrassenlage (Burrweiler St. Annaberg) and Ilbesheimer Kalmit, as well as Edition Johanniskreuz (Riesling cuvée from all sites)
