2012 Spätburgunder Reserve trocken RdP, Pfalz, Germany

Firm and deep, peppery and nutty-woody spicy, also slightly malty and tobacco scent of ripe red and black berries with some dried mushrooms, herbs, sandalwood and mineral notes. Firmly worked in the mouth, ripe, partly preserved and candied looking, rather red fruit with nutty and slightly chocolatey wooden aromas, very slightly jammy tones, very elegant acidity and youthful, yet rather mature, sometimes silky tannins, quite concentrated, deep and complex, still undeveloped, in the background mineral, hint of malty, again some sandalwood, also cedar tones, becomes more and more fine with a lot of air, very good to long, firm finish with ripe juice and woody spice. Only shows what he really can on the third day.
