The winery is located in the municipality of Meddersheim in the German Nahe wine region. Since 1999 it has been managed by Harald Hexamer junior. The vineyards cover 13 hectares in the individual locations Altenberg and Rheingrafenberg (Meddersheim), Marbach (Sobernheim), as well as In den Felsen and Königsfels (Schloßböckelheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (60%), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer and Bacchus, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Frühburgunder, Domina and Regent. Quality criteria in the vineyard are the pruning of only one vine, thinning out, defoliation of the grape zone and selective harvesting of optimally ripe grapes in several passes. The aim is to produce fruity, varietal wines that reflect the soil. The musts for the white wines are fermented with yeast selected on the estate itself and aged exclusively in steel tanks. The red wines mature in traditional wooden barrels and barriques, depending on the type of wine desired. In climatically suitable years, ice wines are also pressed. We also produce bottle-fermented sparkling wine and pomace brandy from Pinot Noir.
