The winery is located in the municipality of Bad Krozingen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine region). The family has been involved in winegrowing for generations. In addition to viticulture there are also asparagus and strawberries. The business is managed by Fritz Waßmer. The vineyards comprise 38 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Roter Berg (Kenzingen), Bienenberg (Malterdingen), Sommerhalde (Bombach), Kaiserberg (Herbolzheim) and Schlossberg (Achkarren). They are very densely planted with the red wine varietiesPinot Noir from Burgundy clones, the main variety of the farm with 60% of the area, Frühburgunder, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, as well as the white wine varietiesPinot Blanc, PinotGris, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Riesling with up to 13,000 vines/ha.
The aim of the house is to produce wines that are typical of their location and variety. The product range is divided into three lines: estate wines, premium wines and site wines. The white wines are mostly aged in stainless steel. The Spätburgunder wines are fermented spontaneously in stainless steel. Also noble sweet wines like , Beerenauslese and in years suitable for the weather also Trockenbeerenauslese are pressed. Secco and bottle-fermented sparkling wine are also produced. Over 190,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
