2021 Spätburgunder trocken "Selection!", Baden, Germany

Somewhat smoky, bacony and a hint of tobacco on the nose, black and red berries with hints of mushrooms and herbs, a hint of leather and moderate barrel notes. Smoky and a little dark-ethereal on the palate too, relatively slender black and red fruit with fine sandy tannins and some bite, light coffee and cocoa notes in the background, plus shiitake mushrooms, a hint of beetroot and sour cherry, salty and slightly chalky minerality, good persistence, good to very good, still a hint of sandy finish.
