The winery is located in the municipality of Böchingen (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The French border is only 25 kilometres to the south. The winery has been in existence since 1987. The vineyards cover 18 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Biengarten (Frankweil), Herrenberg (Nußdorf), Hölle (Gleisweiler), Münzberg (Godramstein), Rosenkranz (Böchingen) and Schäwer (Burrweiler). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Heroldrebe and Sauvignon Blanc, and the red wine varieties St. Laur ent, Blauer Portugieser, Pinot Noir and Merlot. Organic viticulture is practised according to the guidelines of the Bioland association. The winery is also a founding member of the "Club of European Organic Wine Estates".
The cultivation of a lush and diverse cover crop is considered an important tool in soil management. Selective harvesting is carried out with the aim of healthy, fully ripe grapes as a prerequisite for high-quality wines. The red wines ferment in stainless steel tanks and then mature in old oak barrels, or the top qualities in new barriques. Fine brandies and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. In 1998, Heiner acid founded the winery Bodegas Palmera in the Spanish region of Utiel-Requena, west of Valencia, as managing director and partner.
