2022 Grauburgunder Landwein, Oberrhein, Germany

Cool, herbaceous and slightly peppery nose, red and black berries with bacony nuances, some fresh chanterelles, moss, juniper, delicate tobacco barrel notes and floral nuances. Clear, finely juicy, tart, quite dark fruit, yeasty, nutty flavours reminiscent of bread spices, a little coffee and tobacco in the background, lively acidity and a lot of grip from ripe, fine sandy tannins, persistent, animating, a hint of cola nut in the background, pork belly marinated in soy sauce, hints of liquorice and aniseed, chalky and salty tones, a hint of turmeric, lots of life, juicy and spicy finish.
