The winery is located in the municipality of Langenlonsheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The traditional family has been based here since 1859. The name "Weingut Bürgermeister" goes back to the grandfather of the current owner Axel Schweinhardt, who was mayor of Langenlonsheim from 1946 to 1969. In 1968, the estate was taken over by Wilhelm Schweinhardt, who carried out extensive renovations. His son Axel studied wine business in Heilbronn and took over the winemaking in 1993. He has been running the estate since 2007. The hotel "Bed&Breakfast Heinrichs B&B" with nine individual double rooms on the winery is attached to the farm.
The vineyards cover 25 hectares (8 of them in terraced steep slopes) in the single vineyard sites Königsschild, Löhrer Berg and Rothenberg (Langenlonsheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (60%, rooted up to 12 metres deep), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Scheurebe, Muscat and Bacchus, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vineyards have been cultivated since 1993 according to the rules of Controlled Environmentally Friendly Viticulture Rheinland-Platz. 90% of the grapes are selectively harvested by hand. The high quality of the grapes means that no animal products are used for filtering.
Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel, in large wooden bar rels or in barriques. All wines are produced vegan and are estate bottlings according to wine law. Noble sweet wines, sparkling wines, sparkling wines, noble brandies (apple, Williams pear, grape brand y, brandy, gin) and grape juice are also produced. Around 120,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the well-known international Slow Food association. As a special feature, Riesling or Burgundy vines can be rented, from which the tenant receives three bottles annually as rent.
