2019 Spätburgunder trocken Réserve "Eichenlaub", Baden, Germany

Somewhat alcoholic and malty aroma of preserved predominantly black fruits with mushroomy and smoked ham-like aromas, marzipan, a little root vegetables, milk chocolate, juniper and tobacco. Ripe, tightly knit, again predominantly black fruit, clear, dark ethereal, especially juniper spice, present tannin and a certain acid bite, a hint of citrus zest, a lot of power and noticeable alcohol, smoky-roasty wood flavours with coffee notes and also a little sweet milk chocolate, some salt in the background, a trace of molasses, sooty hints, quite compact structure, good to very good, dark, relatively woody finish with ethereal spice and again plenty of alcohol. Unfortunately does not develop to its advantage.
