2016 Barolo DOCG La Volta Riserva, Piedmont, Italy

Firm, deep and complex, a touch meaty-animalic, in addition clearly peppery scent of ripe red and black berries with dried-floral nuances and juniper-ethereal spice. Taut, youthful and fresh, almost cool, juicy, polished fruit, crumbly-sandy tannin, a little tobacco and a touch of cocoa, also a hint of tar on the palate, tart nutty tones, some bite, has power and depth but no heaviness at all, rather firm core, still undeveloped, ethereal notes, almost a little reminiscent of eucalyptus, very good, firm, juicy and ethereal-spicy finish with smoky nuances, still very slightly drying tannins and a little tomato paste.
