2022 Bolgheri DOC Rosso "Emilio Primo", Tuscany, Italy

Firm, somewhat smoky, peppery nose, slightly reminiscent of roasted bacon, yet surprisingly cool, ripe black and blue berries with tart juniper notes, hint of paprika and a hint of lavender and morels. Taut, clear and polished, rather cool-looking black fruit, smoky and slightly roasted-spicy notes, pepper and juniper, herbal nuances, good persistence, present, still slightly sandy tannins, has a certain bite and freshness, not eternally deep, but excellently made, still undeveloped, a hint of lavender in the background, very good finish with dark juice, a little Assam tea, paprika and ethereal spice.
