2013 Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, Tuscany, Italy

Firm, clear and polished on the nose, complex, noble scent of red and even more black berries with notes of light cherries, fine floral and herbaceous aromas, a hint of rock candy, tobacco nuances, juniper, pepper, finest liquorice and a hint of blood orange. Very noble and fine, polished, juicy fruit with delicate chocolaty nuances, very fine herbal aromas reminiscent of mountain herbs and a hint of pink pepper and mint, persistent and dense on the palate, yet highly elegant, very fine, lively acidity and first-class tannins, persistent, deep and multi-layered, well-drawn, salty in the background, hinted at citrus zests, still completely undeveloped, yet already beguiling, builds much more on finesse than on power, even if it is not a distinct lightweight, long, multi-layered, downright beguiling finish.
