2016 Etna DOC Rosso "Rampante", Sicily, Italy

Tart, polished, slightly smoky aroma of red and a little black berries with some red pepper as well as dried floral and herbal aromas and a hint of tar. Taut, tart, very juicy, rather cool fruit, fine spicy flavors, some red pepper and a touch of tomato, some acid bite and tight, youthful, fine tannin, persistent on the palate, a touch sooty in the background, also a little nutshell, distinct minerality, tart, dark spicy flavours, still gaining freshness with air, still young, very good, again quite taut, tart-juicy, grippy, smoky and spicy finish with bite. A pleasure.
