2016 Barolo DOCG Lazzarito, Piedmont, Italy

Lots of tar and also tobacco in the nose, ripe mixed berries, a little juniper, clearly dried floral tones, a little iodine, undergrowth, hints of varnish and a touch of cocoa. Quite juicy, straightforward, tart fruit, nutty, somewhat smoky and floral tones, fine sandy, rather crumbly tannin, certain acidity, tobacco, tar and a hint of cocoa in the background, plus salt and a hint of citrus zest, pepper and chilli spiciness emerging with air, herbal nuances in the background, still undeveloped, very good, tart-juicy finish with bite and still quite present tannin. Needs a lot of air at the moment.
