The winery is located in the municipality of Radda in Chianti (province of Siena) in the centre of the Chianti-Classico DOCG area in the Italian region of Tuscany. Its origins lie in a 100-hectare estate founded in 1900 by Alessandro Lisini with woods, olive trees and agricultural land. Cattle breeding, olive and wheat cultivation as well as viticulture were practised there. There is also a 900-year-old windmill on the estate, which was completely renovated in 1984 (see picture on the left). The estate was inherited by Giulio Bianchi Bandinelli, who reactivated viticulture in 1970. He sold it to Batya Schwartz and Dieter Mittelsten-Scheid in 1982. Daniele Pianigiani is the cellar master. Flats are also rented out and rooms for seminars are offered.
Today, the land covers 86 hectares, of which 5 hectares are planted with olive trees and 3.5 hectares with vines. 90% of the vines are Sangiovese and 10% are other red wine varieties. The vineyards are cultivated in accordance with organic viticulture standards, which have been certified since 2019. The wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in barrique and tonneau barrels after malolactic fermentation. The product range includes the DOCG wines Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, as well as the IGT wine Toscano Rosso. Olive oil is also produced.
