Winery Wines Files 11

2018 Maximin Grünhaus Pinot Noir, Mosel, Germany

Strong alcohol, quite dense aroma of black and red berries with herbal, peppery and somewhat malty notes. Nutty and slightly smoky to sooty wood and ripe, partly preserved and dried fruit in the mouth, warm and alcoholic, malty tones, liquorice, also juniper and dry herbs, rather Mediterranean in effect, cocoa on the palate, hints of coffee grounds, crumbly-sandy, somewhat opaque and drying tannins, slightly compote tones, in the background also minerality, chocolaty-roasty wood and massive alcohol in the finish. Has substance and a certain complexity, but with its extreme alcohol it is unfortunately also quite exhausting.
