2013 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC De Piano, Alto Adige, Italy

Fairly mature nose, spicy oak and a hint of tobacco, light dried floral notes, animal traces, red and black berries, earthy notes. Ripe, juicy, slightly warm fruit on the palate, hint of tobacco, light nutty, spicy oak, herbaceous notes, fine sandy tannins, still very slightly astringent, good persistence and substance, hint of chocolate and bacon, slightly sweetish and creamy, hint of tonky beans, buttery traces, slightly astringent again on a good to very good spicy, sweetish, juicy finish. Has become slightly more firm in recent months.

Editor note: Toasted spicy oak and some tobacco on the nose, earthy notes, partly dried black and a few red berries, partly dried figs, cedary and dried vegetal traces. Ripe, fairly juicy, partly preserved fruit on the palate, nutty, toasted oak and some chocolate, some vanilla and caramel, integrated sandy tannins, slightly astringent, very creamy, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, fairly soft style, hint of bacon, slightly soft contours on a good to very good finish.
