2020 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Gries Lagrein Riserva, Alto Adige, Italy

Somewhat smoky, earthy and almost a little sooty scent of black berries with some root vegetables, dried meat, pepper and tobacco in the background. Tart dark fruit, smoky, slightly bitterish wood, green-vegetable to tobacco notes, fine sandy tannins, still a hint of drying, earthy tones, a little ash, cubeb pepper and juniper in the background, some salt, bacony nuances, gains noticeable juice and depth with air, a hint of dried mushrooms, very good, firm finish, again with dark ethereal spice and cold aromatic smoke.
