2005 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Pinot Noir Riserva Selectart "Trattmann", Alto Adige, Italy

Ripe, partly preserved red berries and blueberries on the nose, floral notes, delicate malted and some mineral notes, sweetish spice and roasted notes. Ripe, juicy fruit on the palate, sweetish and spicy oak, hint of chocolate, elegant acid bite, very slightly sandy tannins evenly distributed, persistent, quite full-bodied, has some depth, juicy with sweetish roasted notes on a very good finish, only reveals it talents gradually.

Best to drink: 2009-2014+. What our ratings mean

Editor note: Very ripe, preserved red berries on the nose, plums, prominent notes of medicinal herbs. Cool and fairly firm on the palate, ripe fruit, some more medicinal herbs and some malted notes, chocolate, hint of anise, good persistence, medium body, very fine, polished tannins, noticeable alcohol, variety not particularly evident, good finish.

Editor note: Very ripe red and some black berries on the nose, herbaceous notes, hint of licorice and some old oak. Juicy on the palate, ripe but also cool fruit, fairly prominent and quite fine tannins, quite good persistence, mineral traces, quite a firm structure, smoky notes, fairly deep, tastes of something besides Pinot Noir, good finish.
