2020 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Gries Lagrein Riserva "Prestige", Alto Adige, Italy

A hint of leathery, smoky and tobacco-like aroma of ripe black berries and a little cherry with moderate clove spice and dried tomatoes in the background. Firm, somewhat phenolic-covered, warm dark fruit, some bite, present, fine sandy, slightly drying tannins, powerful and strong alcohol on the palate, a hint of roasted onions in the background, cloves, vanilla and a little pepper, chocolaty tones, very good, almost a little sweetish-jammy finish with nutty, tart smoky to very slightly sooty notes.

Editor note: Firm, undeveloped, somewhat smooth aroma of ripe black berries with peppery, floral and minty notes as well as moderate woody hints. Quite tightly knit, again a little smooth, partly preserved dark fruit, certain freshness, minty tones, present, fine tannin, chocolatey notes, some liquorice, good persistence, warming alcohol, peppery nuances, good to very good, a little marbled finish.
