2019 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Gries Lagrein Riserva "Prestige", Alto Adige, Italy

Slightly tobacco aroma of ripe, partly preserved black berries with nutty, slightly peppery and herbal notes, a touch of tar and hints of bacon. Ripe, firm, juicy dark fruit, again partly preserved, smoky notes, some tar and hints of liquorice, a little coffee in the background, also dark chocolate and a touch of soot, persistent, has power, becomes fruitier and softer with air, very good, tart finish with some smooth dark juice and at the same time milk-chocolate and delicately bitter wood spice.
