2018 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva "Tor di Lupo", Alto Adige, Italy

Firm, quite deep, a touch herbal and smoky aroma of ripe black berries and cherries with delicate bacony notes and peppery spice. Tart, juicy, very tightly knit fruit in the mouth, fresh minty tones, some cocoa and nutty wood aromas, slightly smoky to bacony in the background, fine, quite present tannin, powerful and persistent on the palate, relatively complex, good depth, very good, firm, juicy and spicy finish with grip and persistence. Once again considerably better than the possibly not quite flawless first sample.
