2008 Barbaresco DOCG Riserva, Piedmont, Italy

Developed, somewhat earthy and nutty-woody nose of ripe red and also somewhat dark flowers with wilt-floral and leafy tones as well as a little dried mushrooms. Ripe and developed fruit, nutty, tobacco and woody tones, a little juniper-ethereal spice, hints of pepper, crumbly-sandy tannin, some power and persistence, a little salt in the background, moderate acidity, very good, quite juicy and moderately woody-spicy finish with dried floral nuances.

Editor note: Relatively firm, somewhat developed aroma of ripe red and a little black berries with a hint of cubeb pepper, dried floral nuances and moderate wood spice. Ripe, again slightly developed, quite juicy fruit, moderate, delicately smoky and spicy wood notes, fine sandy, crumbly tannin, persistent on the palate, some power, dried-vegetable nuances in the background, some salt, harmonious, very good finish with nutty hints.
