TRENTINO DOC MÜLLER THURGAU “VIGNA DELLE FORCHE“ 2016 Vins extremes 2017 July |
The cooperative (cooperative winery) with an associated wine shop is located in the municipality of Cembra-Lisignano (province of Trento) in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Ad ige at 700 metres above sea level. It was founded in 1952 on the initiative of a few winegrowers and today comprises more than 400 members who cultivate 300 hectares of vines. The farm is certified according to the international quality standard IFS for food, products and service. Since 2003, it has been part of the "La-Vis" group. The president is Pietro Patton, the managing director is Massimo Benetello and the oenologist is Ezio Dallagiacoma.
The steeply terraced vineyards with a slope of over 40% reach up to 900 metres above sea level, which is why they are among the highest in Trentino. The name derives from their location in the Val di Cembra, on whose rocky ground of porphyry stone, wines with strong mineral-spicy notes can be produced. The red wine varieties Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) and Schiava Grossa, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling Renano (Riesling), Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc), Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris), Sauvignon (Sauvignon Blanc), Müller-Thurgau and Chardonnay are cultivated and processed. The cultivation follows the rules of integrated production.
In the wine cellar, huge pictures of the vineyards are displayed on all the walls. Must is extracted with Marmonier presses, like those used in Champagne, which are particularly suitable for gentle pressing. The product range includes various still wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines DOC Trentino. Premium wines of the house are the white wines "Vigna delle Forche" (Müller-Thurgau, fermentation and maturation 10 months in stainless steel and 5 months in bottle) and "Vigna Cancor" (Riesling, fermentation and maturation 10 months in stainless steel and 7 months in bottle), as well as the red wine "Vigna Saosent" (Pinot Nero, 12 to 18 months in tonneau and barrique and 6 months in bottle). Around 300,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
