2019 Carmignano DOCG Riserva "Trefiano", Tuscany, Italy

Warm, fairly complex, somewhat nutty nose, ripe blackcurrants, some red berries, peppery, ethereal spice, cedary traces, some beef, bay leaf and juniper. Ripe, firm, warm fruit with some dried vegetal to tobacco, nutty and smoky aromas, crumbly, sandy, slightly drying tannins, some tobacco ash, lots of strength and alcohol, dried root vegetables in the background, bitterish oak tones, a little juniper and laurel, pistachio tones, hint of salt, still a little drying and again alcohol-rich finish that gains in juiciness and tension with air.
