2020 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot Riserva "Lasón", Alto Adige, Italy

Clear, slightly ethereal aroma of ripe black berries, some tomato paste, basil, hints of tobacco and smoke as well as a hint of black olives. Ripe, juicy, somewhat warm fruit, somewhat smoky and toasty wood aromas, youthful, yet polished tannins, a little dry herbs on the palate, has a certain freshness, nutty tones, dark ethereal notes in the background, chocolatey tones, very slightly reminiscent of ice cream confectionery, good persistence and some depth, has power, very good, firm, juicy and again slightly ethereal finish with moderate, chocolatey wood aromas. Convincing and for what it can do, quite reasonably priced.
